Welcome to JOPAWII Youth Foundation, Inc.

JOPAWII” is a non-profit youth organization founded by three community-focused gentlemen. Hence, the name “JO- PA WII”, which represents initials from each of the founder’s surnames, Roderick Jones, Tyrone Palmer, and Aaron Wilson Sr.

OUR MISSION

The mission of JOPAWII Youth Foundation, Inc. was to establish a youth oriented non-profit organization with the ambition to reach out to at risk youth on a one to one basis by empowering them with knowledge, confidence, and self pride through the philosophies and values taught in martial arts.

This website is also dedicated to the promotion of positive Martial Artists in our community who have shown exemplary effort in teaching the martial arts to our children at little or no cost.

Martial arts’ training gives children a sense of belonging and teamwork. This sense of belonging encourages children to combat peer pressure, avoid gangs, and teaches them to solve conflict without violence. Martial arts’ instills positive traits and values. It also teaches the importance of a healthy mind and body and with this knowledge children learn the importance of remaining drug free and leading a productive life.

Our program replaces many missing elements of our students' lives. Those elements include role models, figures of authority, a chance to set and reach goals, physical and mental conditioning and most important, a feeling of hope for the future and a belief in them selves.

Empowering them with these traits gives them the opportunity to become productive contributors to society.

OUR PROGRAM

In their efforts to give back to the community, the founders of JOPAWII, who collectively have over one hundred years of martial arts experience, have implemented this martial arts program as an alternative for at-risk youth. They believe that unlike other sports programs, such as basketball, football, and baseball, a martial arts program provides something for everyone, because no one ever sits on the bench. JOPAWII’ s martial arts program follows a strict youth development philosophy. The focus is to teach leadership skills, goal setting and accomplishment, self-discipline, and self-confidence.

The program would take place after school, three to four days per week, for a period of four to six weeks. Upon completion of the program, each student would be awarded for his or her hard work during our awards ceremony.

We plan to service at least thirty to sixty participants ranging between ages 3 and 17 years old, based upon community interest and program funding.

As it is our future goal to offer this program at no cost to program participants but as of now we are offering a discounted price. We are seeking donations of every kind to subsidize the cost of the program. Should you have any questions, or if you would like to make a donation you may contact us using the contact us page and an email will be sent directly to us.
